The BigML Team has it all set for the upcoming Machine Learning School in Valencia, the city of innovation and technology in Spain. This year, BigML and València Activa, VIT Emprende, and Valencia City Council are bringing the fourth edition of this Machine Learning School to La NAU, a cultural center in the University of Valencia, on September 13-14.

We are thrilled to present to a wide variety of attendee profiles in Valencia, once again, the essential as well as advanced Machine Learning concepts and techniques. As an improvement, we will offer two parallel tracks in this edition to suit the needs and experience levels of different users:

• Basic Machine Learning for business users. An introduction to what Machine Learning is, where we stand today, where we are headed, and the key concepts that will help you understand how to put Machine Learning to use in your context. This track covers the main techniques of classification, regression, time series, clusters, anomaly detection, association discovery, and topic models. Learn how to find the best Machine Learning model to solve your specific problem, and practice all the concepts learned during several workshops and real-world case studies.
• Advanced Machine Learning for developers. For attendees that are familiar with the basics of Machine Learning and its business potential, you can jump up to more advanced sessions on how to prepare data for Machine Learning (e.g., data transformations and feature engineering), how to work programmatically using the API, and how to automate Machine Learning workflows via WhizzML. These sessions will also include practical workshops and several case studies to demonstrate real-world examples.

Regardless of your level of Machine Learning experience, you will be able to follow this two-day course and rapidly improve your skills with the help of BigML’s expert instructors. Equally important to building your analytics skills, there are many opportunities for international networking built into the VSSML18, providing the chance to meet other data-driven professionals that can help advance your career. About BigML Summer Schools

Since its inception, BigML has been a positive force in enabling better Machine Learning education as a key part of democratizing this game-changing technology. As such, we used the opening of our European headquarters in Valencia back in the summer of 2015 as the perfect moment to run the first edition of this Summer School series, which we have repeated every year since then.

The first Valencian Summer School in Machine Learning (VSSML15) gathered 95 attendees from 7 different countries, and out of those, 92 were from Europe. 42 of them came from the academia representing 13 universities and the remaining 53 attendees came from 40 organizations. The following year, in September 2016, we celebrated the second edition (VSSML16) that brought together 142 attendees from 19 different countries. Out of them, 125 of them were from Europe, and more specifically, 109 from Spain. 39 of the attendees represented 21 universities and 82 business profile attendees represented 53 organizations.

Also in 2016, in December, we traveled to São Paulo, Brazil, to run the first Brazilian Summer School in Machine Learning, where 202 attendees from 6 Brazilian states came together. 186 of them represented 25 private companies and the remaining 16 attendees came from 6 academic institutions. We completed another Machine Learning School in Brazil the year after, the BSSML17, this time in Curitiba, Paraná. We came back to Valencia in September 2017 and ran the third edition of our Valencian Summer School in Machine Learning (VSSML17) that brought together 204 attendees from 14 countries and 183 of them from Europe, mostly from Spain. Among the attendees, there were 45 from 28 universities, and 159 representing a record of 92 organizations.
